Malika dayA
Director

Malika Daya (she/her) is a Toronto-based artist specializing in directing, playwriting, dramaturgy, and producing. Her journey has led her through the realms of global development, theatre and performance studies and anthropology, shaping her into an applied theatre practitioner and researcher.
As a second-generation South Asian–East African–Canadian, Malika is deeply fascinated by the stories of the diaspora and the unique values, challenges, and narratives that emerge from living between cultures.
Malika’s repertoire includes working on notable productions such as "This is War" by Hannah Moscovitch (2019) and as an assistant director for "We are Proud to Present" by Jackie Sibblies Drury (2020). She has also directed "Letters to my Grandma" by Anusree Roy (2021) as part of the Paprika Director's Lab, and most recently co-directed, "At the End of Kaliyuga" by Sanskruti Marathe (2023). These experiences have fueled her passion for bringing thought-provoking and culturally diverse narratives to the stage.
